Civil Engineering Group Supervisor Role Overview
Our organization seeks a qualified Civil Engineering Group Supervisor to lead the planning and execution of civil projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in conducting field investigations, client interviews, and cost estimates for project civil aspects.
The role involves overseeing design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil components and processes to ensure project requirements are met.
Main Responsibilities
* Project Planning and Execution: Plans and conducts independent civil work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of civil engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on medium-sized projects or assignments.
* Design and Development: Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of civil components and processes utilizing relevant engineering department procedures, design standards, and guides.
* Review and Approval: Reviews and approves key engineering drawings, calculations, and bid summaries.
* Structure Design: Designs structures using advanced knowledge of civil engineering in areas such as hydrology, hydraulics, road design, pavement design, geotechnical, and earthworks.
* Civil Element Selection: Determines the appropriate use of various civil elements such as earthworks, pavement, rock, concrete, etc., to ensure appropriate materials are used based on project requirements.
* Deliverable Origination and Checking: Originates and checks complex civil engineering deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
* Technical Coordination: Coordinates and interfaces with day-to-day technical work of personnel and communicates complex technical issues to upper management.
* Conceptual Design: Develops conceptual designs for civil projects or those with specialized requirements.
* Estimate Preparation: Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs, and schedules; prepares discipline estimates and work plans in alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
* Client Interface: Coordinates with client representatives to obtain approval of civil aspects of the work.
* Special Studies: Conducts or leads special studies of new civil engineering methods, materials, and techniques.
* Mentorship: Mentors civil engineering personnel through on-the-job training.
