Following the successful securing of new apprenticeship funding contracts Queensland our client—a leading provider of training courses to the trades sector—is expanding their apprenticeship training operations and seeking an Industry Engagement Manager to drive the next phase of strategic growth.
Your Role
As Industry Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic business development initiatives within Queensland's vocational education and training landscape. This role centres on building and leveraging established industry connections to drive growth in fee-for-service course delivery nationally, while expertly navigating complex funding frameworks and leading sales team performance.
Reporting directly to the General Manager and collaborating with the Director, training team, and sales professionals, you will develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies for the RTO. Your focus will be on creating strong industry connections and cultivating strategic partnerships that drive organisational growth while maximizing emerging opportunities.
The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the apprenticeship ecosystem, established relationships with industry groups, and a proven ability to rapidly qualify opportunities within Queensland's funding landscape. This is a senior commercial role requiring strategic thinking, team leadership capabilities, and specialized expertise in RTO business development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Business Development Planning – Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies for RTO growth and national fee-for-service course expansion
* Queensland Funding Navigation – Navigate complex funding landscapes, advise on eligibility requirements, and maximize funding utilisation while maintaining commercial viability
* Industry Network Leverage – Identify and qualify business opportunities rapidly through established connections within industry groups, employer associations, and training networks
* Revenue Growth & Partnerships – Drive revenue growth through strategic industry partnerships and course delivery agreements
* Stakeholder Relationship Management – Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in apprenticeship and vocational training, representing the organization at industry event
* Sales Team Leadership – Lead, coach, and develop sales team performance while establishing KPIs, processes, and reporting frameworks to achieve revenue targets
* Market Intelligence & Opportunity Identification – Engage with industry bodies to identify emerging training needs, market opportunities, and stay current with policy changes
* Compliance & Cross-functional Collaboration – Ensure all business development activities align with RTO compliance standards while collaborating with internal teams for seamless client delivery
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in RTO business development, apprenticeships, sales management, or equivalent commercial role within the vocational education sector
* Established network of industry connections within Queensland's apprenticeship and training landscape
* Demonstrated ability to navigate funding frameworks and understand eligibility requirements
* Proven track record in leading sales teams and achieving revenue targets
* Strong understanding of the vocational education sector, industry training needs, and market dynamics
* Exceptional relationship management and stakeholder engagement capabilities
* Strategic thinking with ability to develop and execute business development plans
* Demonstrated people leadership experience
