We work across study phases, front-end engineering, detailed design and EPCM, partnering with clients across commodities including Gold, Iron Ore, Lithium, Copper, Tin and Building Materials.
The Opportunity
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects ranging from concept and feasibility studies through to detailed engineering, procurement, and Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Management (EPCM) delivery. This role requires strong technical understanding, analytical ability, and coordination across engineering and procurement disciplines.
What You Will Do
* Develop and maintain capital cost estimates for mining and mineral processing projects — including greenfield developments, plant expansions, and brownfield upgrades.
* Prepare estimates for all project phases: concept, scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and detailed design.
* Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project control teams to ensure alignment between design scope and cost.
* Gather and analyze vendor quotations, material take-offs, and construction cost data.
* Support preparation of "basis of estimate" (BOE) and estimate methodology documents.
* Conduct cost benchmarking, unit rate development, and market pricing analysis.
* Assist in risk and contingency assessments and support cost reviews with project managers.
* Maintain and update estimating databases, cost norms, and historical data.
* Provide cost input to project scheduling, procurement planning, and bid preparation.
* Support proposal development for studies and EPCM tenders.
Essential Experience
* Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
* Skill & Experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience in cost estimating within the construction industry. Experience in estimating for mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial projects preferred but not essential.
* Experience in estimating for mining or mineral processing projects is encouraged.
* Experience with CAPEX estimates for study and EPCM project phases.
* Strong understanding of engineering deliverables (P&IDs, equipment lists, drawings, MTOs).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating tools/software.
* Knowledge of EPCM workflows, procurement processes, and construction methodologies.
* Good English communication skills (written and verbal).
* Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary and international project teams.
