About the role As Ranger Team Leader at Kinglake National Park, you will lead a team of rangers in the day-to-day management of this high-visitation park on Melbourne's peri-urban fringe. Your core responsibilities include coordinating on-ground operations, managing visitor services and compliance, overseeing asset and infrastructure maintenance, and building strong relationships with the local community, volunteers, and stakeholders. You will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic for team members to follow and ensure that team employees maintain a high standard of personal accountability. Ranger Team Leaders are responsible for guiding the team, to inspire enthusiasm, to ensure their safety and welfare and to ensure they are appreciated for their efforts. This is a hands-on leadership role - you'll be setting direction for your team, managing rosters and resources, and ensuring safe, high-quality service delivery. We're looking for someone who brings strong people management skills and the confidence to lead a team through a period of renewal and growth. We're looking for someone with:
* Relevant qualifications in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation and land management, outdoor education, or a relevant trade
* Demonstrated experience as a Ranger or equivalent natural resource management role, with proven ability to supervise staff and deliver complex on-ground services
* Strong people management skills, including the ability to give clear direction, provide constructive feedback, and foster a collaborative and respectful team culture
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage constructively with diverse stakeholders and community groups
* Proven ability to work autonomously, manage resources, and deliver outcomes to agreed standards
