The University Library is seeking an experienced librarian to lead and develop a team of high performing professionals inspiring them to adapt and thrive in the contemporary higher education environment. The Manager will engage strategically with colleagues and clients across the University and beyond, and will actively pursue opportunities to build partnerships, meet needs and expand Library services.
**About you** You will manage the Education and Research Services Department and provide high quality, client centred services to support UTS education and research. You will lead a team of expert librarians responsible for the delivery of information literacy training, research support and outreach services to faculties and units. **Why your role is important** The Education and Research Services department delivers services that support the learning, teaching, research, outreach and administrative functions of the University. You will play a vital role in preparing students for a lifetime of learning and supporting staff as they increase the global impact of their teaching and research.
**Key responsibilities** - Manage a complex functional unit, with responsibility for financial and human resources. - Lead and develop a high performing team that collaborates effectively with other departments and units to deliver excellent client-focused services. - Drive the expansion of strategic partnerships with faculties to embed Library services and resources in the curriculum. Oversee the design and delivery of comprehensive information literacy and research support programs. - Track and analyse department, project and program performance data, and use it to support strategic decisions, innovation and continuous improvement. - Identify and cultivate key relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders, influencing and negotiating to ensure positive outcomes on behalf of the Library.
**You have** - Relevant postgraduate qualification and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Eligibility for professional membership of ALIA will be looked on favourably. - Significant experience in the effective management of high quality academic library services that support learning, teaching and research. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop collaborative high performing teams and to implement continuous improvement in the workplace. - Proven ability to manage projects, working effectively under pressure, balancing multiple priorities to ensure Library and University goals are met, timelines are realised and outcomes are delivered. - Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills resulting in engagement, collaboration and partnerships with faculties and support units, and improvements to the client experience. - Demonstrated understanding of current issues in learning and teaching in higher education, the processes of research and scholarly communication and the information requirements of the academic community.
**Remuneration**
**Base Salary Range**:
**$132,164 to $138,457 pa (HEW 9)** This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension)
**in addition** to the base salary. UTS staff also benefit from a wide range of Employee Benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities. This position is
**full-time** and appointment will be made on a
**continuing basis**.
