We're hiring a Product Delivery Lead - Web Services at mod.io.
At mod.io, we help game studios unlock the power of user-generated content through a live platform spanning web, mobile, APIs and data services. This is a chance to work in game tech with real product impact.
Your purpose (how you help mod.io)
You enable us to deliver industry-leading features at the right time, across our Web Services tech stack. Features that make UGC success massive and repeatable for every game using mod.io.
You do this by managing the delivery of prioritised work for the web, mobile, data pipeline and API components of our UGC service.
What you'll be doing in the role (your responsibilities)
You are responsible for delivering features, bug fixes, and updates to our Web Services tech stack. You do this by project managing your engineering teams, taking priorities from the Head of Product via the Product Roadmap, and balancing those with the needs of supporting the live product (bug fixes, quality‐of‐life updates, security fixes, rolling engine updates, etc.). You oversee these features from sprint planning, through development, QA testing, review, managing any iterations needed, and finally to release management and deployment.
Product Planning
* You ensure upstream features and fixes are coming, have Product Specifications (briefs), and are prepared and ready for sprint planning.
* You convert Product Specifications into agile delivery plans, writing required work tickets, confirming estimates, and adding to sprints, in collaboration, where needed, with the Tech Lead, Head of Web Services, or Engineering.
* When creating delivery plans (sprint plan), you identify and ensure the highest priority work is delivered on time and to spec, taking into account resource allocation, scheduling, scope, etc.
* When needed, you ensure the designer is briefed on UX/UI requirements, write UX/UI tasks and ensure designs are reviewed and signed off.
* You will create tasks (epics/stories) for all work in our project management software, ensuring they are sufficiently detailed to enable an engineer and QA to pick up the card, build and test without needing to seek additional (missing) information.
* Ensure post‐delivery maintenance and support are planned and considered.
Product Management
* You own and run the delivery (sprint) process, including daily stand‐ups and sprint check‐ins to ensure accountability for the delivery of tasks, that progress is reported each day, blockers are identified and resolved, dependencies are communicated and followed up, and that we remain on track on a daily basis to meet our delivery objectives.
* You ensure that all work is tracked in our project management software and that the status of work is clearly visible and accurate, enabling reporting and real‐time progress assessment.
* You monitor and manage the sprint board to ensure tasks are not blocked or stuck in status for too long, that PRs and QA steps are followed, and that tickets are moving.
* You are responsible for managing and adjusting active sprints to keep them on course.
* You understand our web and API tech stack and can accurately identify the following at a level that enables you to efficiently set and deliver plans:
* Technical impacts (eg, plugin relies on SDK),
* Complexity (high, medium, low)
* Required skill sets
* Effort (small, medium, large)
* You apply continuous improvement methodologies, conduct retros, and action input to ensure we don't repeat mistakes and continually improve future delivery cycles.
Product Delivery
* You are responsible for the final release process, confirming which tasks are ready for release, that they've been QA'd, reviewed, and that feature documentation is updated if needed, release notes prepared and if any external communication is required—such as updating our partners.
* With QA, you ensure testing is thorough, robust, efficient, and timely, and support QA efforts as needed with hands‐on testing/UAT.
* You ensure Technical Support is completed for each feature going live, and if post‐launch support is required, that it is resourced and ready.
* You bring and empower a delivery mindset, helping the team adopt it through your everyday interactions, language, and support to succeed in delivering to the roadmap each sprint.
Culture
* Bring expertise and humility to cross‐team interactions. Foster a positive culture that strives for the best outcome with what is available. Resourceful, positive solutions that benefit our partners and prospects. Balancing the need to sell with our capability to build a sustainable business and industry.
* Embody our values, setting an example for others to follow, which strives to foster a high‐performance team that delivers the best outcomes for our partners and prospects with the available resources.
* Lead up, down and across the organisation with authentic leadership and candour.
* Embrace and encourage critical feedback to improve our product and processes, ensuring constructive feedback is given and received effectively.
* Provide and validate clear communication, ensuring all interactions (meetings and briefings, etc.) are effective and as lightweight as necessary to serve a clear purpose.
Your skills and experience (what we think you need to be successful)
To be successful, you are an experienced Delivery Lead who is happy to manage the work for a team of engineers, or an engineer who has already transitioned to a Delivery Lead role.
* Exceptional delivery capabilities, including identifying value and prioritising competing requests in a complex, ambiguous environment.
* Experience with end‐to‐end SDLC management with a strong focus on Web Products
* You are Agile certified or have equivalent on‐the‐job experience.
* Ideally, you have worked in the SaaS product space, or worked as part of a team(s) that shipped commercial applications and products, or maintained a live service product.
* You have excellent organisational skills and can effectively coordinate work across a large team (10+ engineers, one tester and one UX/UI designer).
* You easily convert high‐level requirements into detailed tasks ready for engineers to build and QAs to test.
* Familiar with task‐management software (ClickUp, Trello, etc.).
* Excitement to dig in and experiment, with real attention to detail.
* It would be great if you also have:
* A solid technical understanding of APIs, data pipelines, web and mobile applications.
* A passion for video games and an understanding of the unique challenges UGC presents us, and similar businesses like YouTube and Steam.
Why work for us:
