Overseeing the full financial function, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, payroll oversight, and cash flow control.
Preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
Developing, documenting, and maintaining financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Ensuring compliance with BAS, PAYG withholding, FBT, payroll tax, superannuation, and other statutory obligations.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Financial Planning
Leading the preparation of annual operating budgets and multi-year financial forecasts.
Monitoring performance against budget and conducting variance analysis.
Providing financial advice on business strategies, capital investments, major projects, and operational decisions.
Cost Control & Operational Finance
Implementing cost‑control processes across hydraulic services, machining, fabrication, and engineering operations.
Conducting job costing, pricing analysis, margin analysis, and profitability assessments.
Reviewing operational financial data to identify efficiency and performance improvement opportunities.
Risk Management, Governance & Compliance
Conducting financial risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies.
Maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant legislation.
Coordinating external audits and liaising with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
Providing financial guidance to Directors, workshop managers, project managers, and procurement leadership.
Managing and mentoring finance and administration staff.
Presenting financial reports, analysis, and recommendations to senior management.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years' experience in financial management, accounting, or comparable senior finance roles.
Demonstrated knowledge of Australian taxation laws, compliance regulations, and accounting standards.
Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational capabilities.
Proficiency in Xero, SIMPRO, EH payroll or similar accounting/ERP systems.
Experience within engineering, hydraulics, manufacturing, or industrial services sectors is highly desirable.
