Focused on sustainability and regional growth, the council oversees road networks, environmental management, and public amenities to enhance the quality of life for residents. If successful in this role, you will supervise a road maintenance crew in a remote town, working a 9-day fortnight, with meals, accommodation, and travel provided during your swing.
Your new role
* Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and safety regulations, including the Workplace Health and Safety Act and MUTCD.
* Monitor and control costs for maintenance and construction projects.
* Supervise and guide staff effectively.
* Oversee construction and maintenance on council and Main Roads networks as needed.
* Identify and manage road and drainage maintenance in line with quality standards.
* Inspect rural roads and drainage systems to prioritise works.
* Collaborate to address maintenance needs and secure resources.
* Pursue continuous learning and improvement.
* Ensure health, safety, and compliance with CHRC policies.
What you'll need to succeed
* Driver's licence
* Certificate III in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance) or equivalent, with relevant experience
* Certificate IV in Civil Construction or equivalent qualification
* Proven experience supervising teams and operating plant equipment in road construction and maintenance
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy
* Capability to live and work in a camp environment
* Ability to uphold and promote workplace safety, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, managing both planned and reactive maintenance activities
* Must be able to complete a medical assessment prior to commencing

What you'll get in return
If successful, you will supervise the road maintenance crew in a remote town, working a 9-day fortnight. Meals and accommodation will be provided for the duration of your swing, along with travel as required. From time to time, you may have to stay at a camp for 1-2 nights. Successful candidates must be willing to do this.
