About the Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Aboriginal Communications Specialist to support our clients' strategic programs, including the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (YTT) strategy. You will play a key role in ensuring culturally informed, impactful communication across internal and external channels. This role is offered on a full time 6 month temporary basis.
What You'll Do
* Develop and deliver internal and external communication strategies to support key projects and organisational priorities
* Provide expert communication advice on campaigns, events, channels and content aligned to internal branding
* Collaborate with internal teams including Aboriginal Strategy & Reconciliation, Aboriginal Employment & Development, Aboriginal Heritage & Native Title, and Aboriginal Contractor Engagement
* Work closely with Corporate Affairs and subject matter experts to ensure coordinated, consistent communication across the organisation
* Establish communication success measures and provide regular reporting
* Develop and implement Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communication frameworks, guidelines, presentations and supporting materials
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* Aboriginality (genuine occupational qualification under Section 50(d) of the WA Equal Opportunity Act 1984)
* Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Media or a related discipline
* Experience engaging and supporting Aboriginal employees, communities and stakeholders
* Proven ability to develop strategic and tactical communication plans
* Strong background in corporate communications within a large, service-based organisation
* Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
* Understanding of past policies and legislation impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
