About the Role
As the Workplace Health and Safety Administration Trainee, you will learn about WHS legislation, systems and workplace procedures, whilst being supported and mentored as you work towards your nationally recognised qualification – Certificate III in Work Health and Safety (BSB This position interacts and builds rapport and capability across the organisation and with Department Heads.
The Traineeship would be ideal for an individual with an administration background or experience in quality assurance, interested in pursuing a career in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS).
More specifically, some of your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
* Assist with maintaining WHS documentation and records.
* Promote awareness of health and safety policies and procedures.
* Assist with monitoring WHS incidents, near misses and procedures.
* Updating and ensuring accuracy of internal checklists and folders.
* Assist with the development of health and safety policies and procedures in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
* Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks with the support from the CQI Coordinator.
* Stay abreast of relevant occupational health and safety regulations.
* Foster positive relationships with key stakeholders (external contacts, CQI facilitator, Executive Team etc.) to promote a collaborative approach to health and safety management.
* Other duties as specified from time to time and at the relevant award level, by the Executive Manager Human Resources
About you
To be considered for this position, you must be able to demonstrate your respect for Aboriginal culture and cultural diversity. You must possess eligibility to complete a Traineeship in Australia - Australian Citizen/ Permanent resident, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and have a demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the cultural context of Aboriginal Health, with the ability to tailor Health and Safety initiatives to meet the unique needs of Aboriginal Communities and Facilities.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Eligibility to complete a traineeship in Australia – Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident
* Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the cultural context of Aboriginal health, with the ability to tailor health and safety initiatives to meet the unique needs of Aboriginal communities and facilities.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including Aboriginal health facility personnel, to foster a positive safety culture.
* Genuine interest in a career within Workplace Health and Safety
* Critical thinking and strong attention to detail.
* Solid computer and Microsoft Office skills.
* Commitment to safety and compliance – Previous experience in Quality Assurance and/or administration is highly regarded.
* Current Northern Territory Driver's License.
* Be in possession or can obtain an OCHRE Card (Working with Children check).
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Other risk related qualifications.
