Experienced Occupational Therapist required for an urgent locum in Mackay, Queensland. The role is to start ASAP until 30 November. Full-time hours, Monday to Friday. Join a team of 20 clinicians.
The Occupational Therapy Service delivers care to patients, both children and adults, throughout our hospital departments as well as in outpatient, community and rural settings. The Occupational Therapists play a critical role in helping people of all ages to overcome the effects of disability caused by illness, ageing or accident so that they can carry out everyday tasks or occupations and participate in the activities of everyday life.
The community service plays a vital role in the continuum of care for consumers and their carers at discharge from acute care through to re-establishment in the consumer`s residence, or when necessary, transitioning to residential care settings. The service comprises a range of outpatient healthcare activities focused on assessing, re-abling and maintaining individuals capacity to successfully remain in their community.
The focus of this role is the community based service, covering a range of clinical conditions and complexity. The target consumer population is adults, including frail aged, and the carers of these consumers. Services encompass specialised and intensive rehabilitation, low-intensity rehabilitation, maintenance, and basic support, and are delivered via a trans-disciplinary team representing medical, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, psychology, speech pathology, dietetics, specialist continence, healthcare assistants and personal care workers.
Responsibilities
 * Work in the community based service covering a range of clinical conditions and complexity for adults, including frail aged and carers.
 * Provide specialised and intensive rehabilitation, low‑intensity rehabilitation, maintenance and basic support as part of a trans‑disciplinary team.
 * Engage with medical, nursing, physiotherapy, social work, psychology, speech pathology, dietetics, continence and other team members to coordinate care.
Qualifications
 * Experience in community health, home visits, aged care services, rehabilitation and neurological caseloads is desirable but not essential.
 * Driving license required.
Benefits and Logistics
 * Travel reimbursement: cost of each-way airfare for 1 adult in economy class to Mackay capped at $350.00 each way or cost of equivalent fuel reimbursement to Mackay, capped at $200.00.
 * Shared accommodation provided or $200 per week accommodation allowance available.
 * Locum rates up to $72 per hour + superannuation.
