Position Description & Qualifications
Serco is seeking a Data Engineer/Scientist to support the U.S. Navy's Team Submarine Program Offices at the Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC. This role focuses on the VIRGINIA Class Program Office (PMS 450) across various technical stacks, including Flankspeed, AI/ML, and Digital Transformation.
Location: Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
* Assist and participate in the system product life‐cycle technical areas, including requirements, design, implementation, sustainment, and integration of systems supported by the PMS 450 technical team (SERCO).
* Prepare and assist on System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETRs) such as Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), etc.
* Manage, report, and mitigate technical risks and communicate progress to internal and external stakeholders.
* Decompose system capability into software/hardware and process requirements, collaborating with stakeholders on system requirements and articulating perspectives during system engineering events.
* Assist in scoping technical project efforts, including planning, scheduling, performance tracking, and coordination of resources.
* Provide courses of action and trade‐off analysis to inform design decisions, considering cost, schedule, and performance.
* Generate technical documentation and artifacts such as System Engineering Plans, Configuration Management Plans, and Interface Control Documents.
* Support media management and messaging.
* Assist with Navy systems such as Flank Speed, uNNPI/NIPR, uNMCI, SIPR/Mercury, CITIS, CDMS, NVD, and TSM.
* Help with app management and SharePoint platform development.
Qualifications
* Active or current Secret clearance, or eligibility to obtain one.
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems, or related field.
* Five (5) years of experience in software engineering, including internships, undergraduate work, or graduate assistantships.
* Five (5) years of experience in group software engineering and technical project management.
* Demonstrated oral and written communication skills to work closely with all levels of personnel involved in IT operations and technical aspects.
* Five (5) years using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
* Five (5) years using Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).
* Knowledge of: Linux, Python, GitHub, Agile methodologies, version control, linear algebra.
