Senior Financial Strategist and Mergers Acquisitions Leader

In this key leadership position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy to drive growth and expansion.

We are seeking an experienced professional to spearhead our mergers and acquisitions efforts, leveraging their expertise to identify and execute strategic partnerships that propel our business forward.

This role offers a unique opportunity to solve complex technical challenges in Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion, and distributed systems. Our high-profile clients include militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement, and many others.

As one of the largest listed defence companies in Australia, we boast a market capitalisation of over $1 billion and a strong track record of innovation. This is a dynamic and rapidly evolving field, with drones increasingly being used for nefarious purposes.

The successful candidate will be based in our Sydney headquarters, working closely with a team of approximately 300 staff. We have a global presence, with overseas offices in Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany, and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries worldwide.

About the Role

This newly created position is a direct result of our rapid growth from approximately $25 million market capitalisation at listing in 2016, to over $1 billion today. The role reports directly to the CEO, with close collaboration with the CFO.

Responsibilities and Expectations

* Develop and execute a comprehensive investor engagement strategy, promoting our financial story and answering queries.
* Organise materials for, and present us at earnings update calls and other investor engagements.
* Collaborate with the CFO to draft the "financial strategy" section of our quarterly reports, investor presentations, Half Annual and Annual Reports.
* Engage with regulatory bodies, such as the ASX, in collaboration with Company Secretaries.
* Lead shareholder and proxy solicitations at Annual General Meetings.
* Drive our M&A strategy, identifying and executing strategic partnerships that propel our business forward.
* Develop a financial media strategy, collaborating with the Government Relations Director and an external media advisor.
* The role does not have direct reports, however there is meaningful resourcing access available via other executives and external advisors.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

* Minimum of 10-15 years tier 1 experience in capital markets, ECM, M&A and/or IR work.
* Australian experience is essential.
* The work is substantially in the office, however there is a degree of hybrid flexibility.
* Degree-qualified in commerce, law or similar.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* High level of self-motivation, responsibility, and operational discipline.
* Candidates must currently reside in Australia and have unrestricted working rights.
