The City of Melton is currently Australia’s fastest growing local government area with a vision of A vibrant, safe and liveable City accessible to all. Located to the west of Melbourne, this exciting area is home to is a fast changing and growing vibrant and diverse community. Responsible for Melton’s Strategic Planning portfolio, the role will provide leadership across Strategic Planning, Growth Area Planning, Urban Design, Heritage and Open Space and Community Infrastructure Planning functions. The role will be instrumental in contributing to the overall success of Council now and into the future, through the development and implementation of strategies that ensure high quality land use, development and planning outcomes for the community. As the lead for land use planning for growth and existing areas, this pivotal role will ensure innovative planning outcomes through policy, design guidelines and collaboration.
The Manager will lead a welcoming, supportive, contemporary and flexible work environment where staff are engaged and valued. The Manager will collaboratively partner with both internal and external stakeholders to influence outcomes and deliver innovative projects, including facilitating major development through effective partnerships with developers and service authorities within State Planning Policy.
To be successful in this role, you are genuinely strategic and be a team player that enjoys leading in a change environment with a fully committed and cohesive Executive Leadership Team. You will need a proven track record in leading high performing teams at a senior level. You will bring proven leadership and planning expertise, either within local or state government or an aligned sector. You bring the ability to conceptualise at a strategic level and translate ideas into practical application.
You will be adept at forming credible and collaborative relationships, including Government departments and agencies, community groups, peers, and other key stakeholders. You pride yourself on your strong consultation, presentation, and communication skills, and ability to develop and inspire great outcomes from your team. With a tertiary degree in Urban Design/Planning or a related discipline, you will be politically astute and have a sound understanding of the economic, environmental and social dynamics of a growth council.
