The Team
Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital, and the Specialised Medical Orderlies within RHH provide a valuable service as support staff to a large multidisciplinary clinical team. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions, consistently focusing on delivering excellence in healthcare to improve outcomes for consumers, workforce and the Tasmanian community.
The Role
* Supervise the routine operation and delivery of all Medical Orderly services within the Hospital.
* Allocate Medical Orderlies to Wards and Departments on a shift‐by‐shift basis.
* Provide Medical Orderly services and assistance to Medical, Nursing, and Para‐Medical staff in the lifting, positioning and general care of patients across a variety of operational areas within RHH.
* Transport patients within the hospital environment by means of wheelchairs, trolleys and beds.
* Respond to emergencies within RHH, including the management of aggressive incidents as part of the Code Black Response Team.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Proven verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively supervise and work as part of a medical orderly team.
* Comprehensive knowledge of practices, procedures and equipment relating to the medical orderly's involvement in patient care services.
* Demonstrated awareness of all aspects of Work Health and Safety and of the concept of Quality Assurance.
Details of Appointment
Multiple permanent, part‐time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary
$76,849 to $82,996 per annum, plus a 12% superannuation contribution. Salary range is in accordance with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
