Head of Legal Technology and Client Solutions — Allens (IDS). Join our Innovation & Digital Solutions team in Sydney or Melbourne as a senior leader responsible for delivering our digital transformation, AI strategies and client-facing technology services within a NewLaw offering.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and delivery of the firm’s legal operations services, working with clients to improve efficiency and operational effectiveness of their legal functions.
* Contribute to shaping and executing the firm’s AI strategy and roadmap, engaging with clients and the broader market. The role is positioned as a key AI thought leader at Allens.
* Enhance the market profile and positioning of our innovation and legal technology services through thought leadership publications, conference presentations, and collaboration with industry bodies on AI and legal service delivery.
* Oversee the delivery of eDiscovery and regulatory services, alongside the leadership team, and manage our managed data services offering with a team of managers and legal technology consultants.
* Identify and lead business development opportunities, contribute to winning work, develop client pitches and proposals, and lead pursuits.
* Provide emerging technology advisory services to clients, focusing on how to leverage AI to drive efficiency and value in their legal functions.
* Identify, develop and lead strategic growth initiatives and new IDS service offerings.
Qualifications & Skills
* Strong background in professional services, legal operations and/or eDiscovery is essential. Qualifications in Law, IT, AI, Data Science or Software Engineering are highly desirable.
* Significant experience, ideally within a law firm, professional services firm or corporate legal department.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and client consulting skills, with ability to develop trusted client relationships (e.g., General Counsel and Legal Operations leaders). Exceptional presentation skills.
* Ability to influence and manage diverse stakeholders across clients, lawyers, Partners, technology vendors and industry bodies.
* Recognised as a thought leader and subject matter expert in innovative legal service delivery.
* Strong people leadership with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
* Deep technical and consulting expertise in legal operations optimisation, eDiscovery and/or legal practice transformation. Desirable experience with tools such as Harvey, Legora, CoCounsel, Relativity, Reveal, Nuix, and Microsoft PowerPlatform (PowerBI, PowerAutomate, PowerApps).
* Knowledge of court rules, practice directions and best practices for using AI and technology in legal services.
* Commercial mindset to identify opportunities and deliver high-value, technology-enabled solutions for clients.
* Strong understanding of the legal market and legal technology landscape.
