Job Title: Lead Project Archivist
The Australian National University is seeking a highly skilled professional to manage and maintain their archival collections. As a key member of the Archives and Special Collections department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for the acquisition, appraisal, arrangement, description, and preservation of archives and special collections.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement policies and procedures for the acquisition, appraisal, arrangement, description, and preservation of archives and special collections.
* Catalogue and describe archive materials using industry-standard tools and platforms.
* Provide research assistance to students, staff, and external users, responding to inquiries and requests for access to archival materials.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of archive holdings, including physical and digital assets.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the university to promote the use and understanding of archival resources.
Requirements:
* Master's degree in Archives and Records Management, Library Science, or a related field.
* Proven experience in archiving and records management, preferably in an academic or research environment.
* Demonstrated expertise in archival principles and practices, including appraisal, arrangement, description, and preservation.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
