About the Position: The Civil Engineer role is integral to our Mackay office operations. You will conduct geotechnical and civil engineering investigations to assess soil, rock and groundwater conditions, supporting safe and cost-effective design solutions for infrastructure and development projects.
This position encompasses planning and supervising site investigations, analysing data to develop engineering models, preparing designs and technical reports, and providing expert advice on ground stability and construction risks. It plays a vital part in ensuring our projects comply with Australian Standards and regulatory requirements while delivering successful outcomes for clients. Key Responsibilities:
Conduct geotechnical and civil engineering investigations to assess soil, rock and groundwater conditions for infrastructure and development projects, supporting safe and cost-effective design solutions. Plan, coordinate and supervise site investigations including borehole drilling, soil sampling, in-situ testing and laboratory testing to determine geotechnical parameters for foundations, earthworks and ground support systems. Analyse geotechnical data and develop engineering models to evaluate ground behaviour, slope stability, settlement risks and foundation performance for civil infrastructure projects.
Prepare engineering designs and technical reports for civil works including foundations, retaining structures, piling systems, earthworks and pavement structures. Develop engineering solutions for roads, bridges, dams and land development projects, ensuring designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, regulatory requirements and project specifications. Assess ground stability and prepare design recommendations for landslide mitigation, slope remediation and hillside developments.
Design temporary works and ground support systems including anchors, soil nailing and stabilisation measures for excavation and construction activities. Review construction methodologies and provide geotechnical advice to contractors to manage ground risks during construction and earthworks operations. Monitor site activities and conduct field inspections to verify compliance with engineering designs, technical specifications and safety standards.
Requirements: Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply. Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in civil or geotechnical engineering. Strong technical skills in geotechnical analysis, site investigation techniques, engineering design software, and knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and regulations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
