Aerial Sensor Operator (Field-Based) | Contract-Roles | Immediate Start Dates Available | Domestic Travel Required |
Are you passionate about travel and looking for a role that combines flying with cutting-edge technology? As an Aerial Sensor Operator (ASO), you'll often be flying over Australia's most diverse and remote landscapes, capturing high-precision data for 3D mapping that powers everything from mobile navigation to urban planning, environmental monitoring, and critical post-disaster assessments. The data you collect will help shape real-world decisions across various industries, making your role more impactful than ever
About the Role
We're seeking tech-focused individuals with a passion for technology to join our team in a field-based role that focuses on capturing aerial-data for large-scale 3D mapping projects. This is your chance to work with cutting-edge sensors, flying over scenic coastal regions and rugged outback terrain to create 3D maps that power everything from navigation, disaster management and critical infrastructure planning. You'll be directly involved in every stage of the survey process, from preparing the equipment and coordinating flight missions to operating advanced sensors during flight and managing the acquired data afterward. Whether you're flying in urban areas or remote regions, your work will be at the forefront of 3D mapping and geospatial data used by government agencies, insurance firms, environmental and resource organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
3D Mapping Operations: Operate sophisticated airborne cameras during flights to acquire high-precision data for the creation of 3D maps used in a wide range of applications, from urban planning to environmental management.
Data Management & Quality Control: Conduct pre- and post- flight checks, manage data transfers, backups, and ensure the accuracy of data used in large-scale mapping projects.
Mission Coordination: Assist with flight planning, prepare mission kits, arrange logistics, and ensure all operations comply with safety and regulatory standards.
Equipment Setup & Maintenance: Help install, calibrate, and test sensors before missions, troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues during flights to ensure smooth operations.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to aviation safety protocols and regulatory requirements to ensure the safety and efficiency of every mission.
Who We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate is either mapping and/or aviation focused with a keen eye for detail and a passion for technology, especially in the world of aerial mapping. You thrive in field-based environments, enjoy working with cutting-edge equipment, and understand the importance of delivering high-quality data for critical real-world applications.
Minimum Requirements:
* Previous experience in surveying, remote sensing, or aviation-related roles.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring data quality.
* Ability to adapt to changing schedules and field conditions, including travel to remote locations.
* Effective communication skills with pilots and technical teams
* Familiar with Windows PC and various cloud data transfer programs
Desirable Skills:
* 1+ years of experience in aerial survey with any current airborne sensor system.
* Familiarity with 3D mapping technologies and remote sensing applications.
* Experience with data management, sensor troubleshooting, and equipment setup.
* Background in flight planning, mission logistics, and supporting field operations.
What's on Offer:
Work with world-class cutting-edge technology on large-scale 3D mapping projects that have real-world applications across industries like urban planning, insurance, government, and environmental conservation.
Travel across Australia, experiencing diverse and remote regions from the air.
Join a professional team focused on safety, precision, and innovation.
