The Anaesthetic Unit provides safe, high quality care to patients/clients during elective and emergency procedural and surgical anaesthesia. The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest public hospital in Tasmania and operates at a level 6 capability, offering acute inpatient and outpatient surgical services for the Tasmania Health Service Hospitals South (THS Hospitals South) and serving as the tertiary referral centre for patients from THS Hospitals North, Northwest and other regional facilities.
Role
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice, works in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and other senior staff to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative, multidisciplinary framework.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the NUM with the planning and management of staff and resources, providing operational leadership through coordination of day-to-day patient care activities, including patient flow.
Work with the NUM and senior staff to ensure efficient and effective delivery of best practice care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary framework.
Leverage deep clinical knowledge and clinical leadership to provide judgment and initiative with minimal supervision.
Support the management of the business and unit performance, including patient flow principles and discharge planning, to achieve the best patient outcomes within available resources.
Contribute to evaluation, innovation, and development of unit services and review of clinical practice policies, procedures and protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
Demonstrated clinical experience in the relevant practice area, capable of providing leadership, exercising professional judgement and initiative, and working with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to understand and manage the business of the unit/service, delivering outcomes within available resources and applying current patient flow and discharge planning principles.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to service evaluation, innovation and development, and to review clinical practice policy, procedures and protocols.

Eligibility
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
Desirable: Holds or is working toward relevant postgraduate qualifications.
Salary
$106,570 to $112,440 per annum, plus a 12% superannuation contribution. The salary range is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement ****. Additional allowances may be available based on post-graduate qualifications.
