In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day property and general ledger accounting activities, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of reporting packages, conducting variance research as needed, and assisting with ad-hoc reporting projects. This position reports directly to the Controller. A degree in Accounting and experience within the commercial real estate industry in retail is required.
Job Responsibilities
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
* Prepare quarterly financial reports for investors, lenders, and various third parties.
* Review and post monthly tenant charges.
* Calculate annual CAM estimates, direct monthly CAM billings to tenants, year-end CAM reconciliations, and other lease administration tasks.
* Record debt service and mortgage escrow transactions.
* Process monthly sales tax calculations and payments.
* Prepare monthly management fee calculations and owner distributions.
* Work closely with property managers to prepare annual operating and distribution budgets.
* Review all invoices submitted by property and development managers for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
* Process weekly check runs to vendors and assist in the issuance of annual 1099s.
* Handle monthly credit card processing, including collection of receipts, coding, and coordinating payment.
* Reconcile bank accounts monthly, with follow-up and corrective action to resolve discrepancies.
* Prepare monthly draw packages on development projects for submission to lenders.
Education & Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail commercial real estate.
* Experience working with Yardi Voyager is required.
