The Role

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is 'exceptional care, healthier lives'. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

You will assist the Nutrition and Dietetics Advisor/Department Head, in the operational direction, leadership and management of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department within the Prince of Wales and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospitals (POWH/SSEH). Your high level of clinical expertise will be required to support the dietetics workforce to deliver high quality nutrition care to diverse patients/clients across the hospital's services. This includes the day-to-day co-ordination of clinical service delivery; the planning, monitoring and evaluation of services; clinical supervision and support of staff and the development and implementation of innovative service models and initiatives.

Your role has responsibilities in the coordination of all the department's resources (human, financial and physical) in consultation with the Nutrition and Dietetics Advisor/Department Head.

This position reports operationally and professionally to the Nutrition and Dietetics Advisor/Department Head.

Prince of Wales Hospital is a quaternary referral and teaching hospital - a great place to develop your career.

Our department team is comprised of nineteen dedicated dietitians (ranging from early career to experienced clinical specialists), seven Dietitian Assistants, Dietitian Assistant Supervisor and an Administrative Officer. As a team we are committed to supporting each other to ensure the delivery of excellent nutrition care to our patients and clients.

The Prince of Wales Hospital is part of the large and friendly, hospital and academic campus at Randwick in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. It has recently opened a new acute services building as part of its ongoing redevelopment. The hospital is close to both light rail and bus stops.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

Recognised qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of Dietitians Australia and commitment to own ongoing professional development.
Evidence of extensive clinical and management experience as a practising Dietitian.
Proven ability to provide high level of guidance, leadership and management of nutrition and dietetics services in a complex health setting.
Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of and commitment to quality improvement processes and the application of evidence based practice within nutrition and dietetics.
Ability to provide leadership and direction with workforce planning and in assisting with the flexible utilisation of resources to enhance service delivery.
Ability to provide high level advice, consultation and education to enhance service delivery, including experience in developing programs, policies and procedures for service improvement.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise work to manage competing demands and work autonomously when appropriate.
