Your new role
Hays Senior Finance, North Queensland, is partnering with this well‑established organisation to recruit a temporary Accountant for a 4+ month contract, with the possibility of extension.In this role, reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key part in supporting the organisation’s day‑to‑day accounting operations. Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end processes
* Preparing workpapers for financial reporting, audits and grant acquittals
* Managing the fixed asset register, including acquisitions, disposals and revaluations
* Analysing financial data and budgets, and providing insights to stakeholders
* Coordinating procurement activities and supporting tender preparation
* Contributing to process improvements and project‑based work
* Providing support across finance functions, including creditors and payroll as required
* Ensuring compliance with organisational policies, procedures and record‑keeping standards
What you'll need to succeed
As this is a temporary role, you will be required for the full 4-month duration. To succeed in the position, you will bring tertiary qualifications in accounting, experience in financial accounting and month‑end reporting, strong analytical skills, and advanced Excel capability. A CA/CPA qualification or progress toward it is desirable, and you will also need to meet compliance requirements, including a Working with Children Check and relevant vaccinations.
