Your role
The Senior Finance Analyst sits within the Delivery PMO Major Projects Governance team and plays a critical role in ensuring strong financial oversight across DCJ's capital portfolio. The role supports the delivery of complex, high value capital projects by providing disciplined financial governance, accurate forecasting, and clear financial insight to enable informed decision making. It contributes directly to the effective stewardship of public funds and the successful delivery of outcomes that support frontline services and community infrastructure across NSW.
What You'll Do
On a day-to-day basis, the Senior Finance Analyst manages capital budgets and forecasts, monitors project expenditure, and prepares financial reports and analysis to support project and portfolio governance. The role works closely with project managers to provide end to end financial advice across the project lifecycle, including budget development, capitalisation, variance analysis, and risk identification. It also provides guidance on financial policies, controls, and accounting requirements, while translating complex financial information into clear and practical insights for non-financial stakeholders.
The role sits within the Delivery PMO Major Projects Governance team, a specialist unit focused on strengthening governance, assurance, and performance across DCJ's major capital program. The team works collaboratively with project delivery teams, finance partners, and senior leaders, providing expert advice and support. The environment is professional, fast paced, and outcomes focused, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, continuous improvement, and supporting colleagues to deliver high quality projects that benefit communities.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is an experienced finance professional with strong expertise in capital project financial management within a complex organisation. They will have tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, or a related discipline, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and capitalisation for large programs or projects. Strong knowledge of financial governance, public sector accounting standards, and internal controls is essential, along with the ability to clearly communicate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders. The successful candidate will be analytical, detail focused, collaborative, and confident in providing advice, influencing decisions, and building financial capability across project teams.
Essential Requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Commerce or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
* Professional accounting qualifications – CAANZ or CPAA, extensive experience or equivalent experience.
