Cyber Security Engineer – Essential Eight & Microsoft
6+6 month contract role in Melbourne's Inner South-East suburbs. $900-$1100 per day inclusive of super.
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive cybersecurity professional to join a government organisation's Digital and Technology Services team.

The Role
* Cyber Security Strategy: implement the Digital and Technology Services Cyber Roadmap, implementing controls aligned with industry standards.
* Risk & Vulnerability Management: develop threat models, conduct security risk assessments, and recommend effective mitigations.
* Incident Response: collaborate with the D&T team to manage security incidents, focusing on continuous improvement across prevention, detection, and response controls.
* Policy & Training: develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and documentation, as well as ensure ongoing development of Cyber Security training programs.
* Technical Administration: manage and troubleshoot security across infrastructure including VMware, HP switching, Exchange (Hybrid), and SIEM platforms.
About You
* A minimum of 5+ years of dedicated experience in a Cyber Security Engineering role.
* Demonstrated experience in implementing cybersecurity frameworks, governance, and reporting, ideally within government organisations.
* High level analytical and investigative skills.
* Strong working knowledge of SIEM platforms and other key security systems.
* Excellent communication skills to influence, advise, and negotiate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Cyber Security.
