About the Role
As a CBRE Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger. This job is part of the Controlling function. You will manage the organization's financial controls and prepare financial reports for management and shareholders.
What You'll Do
* Answer escalated questions regarding various accounting issues and reports.
* Review the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications.
* Evaluate complex accounting variances, reports, and records and make recommendations on reserves, assets, and expenditures.
* Maintain, record and reconcile billings and accounts receivables for large clients, markets or accounts.
* Review month‑end accounting entries, reconcile discrepancies and post to the general ledger.
* Review balance sheet reconciliations and verify transactions from subsystems to ensure accurate data transmission.
* Liaise with external auditors and provide high‑quality explanations and support in response to audit queries.
* Prepare support and liaise with external consultants for tax and regulatory submissions, including but not limited to Fringe Benefits Tax, Taxable Payments Annual Reporting, Business Activity Statements, Payment Times Reporting and ad‑hoc reporting requests from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
* Effectively liaise with offshore team members and support teams in offshore service centres.
* Examine financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and fundamentals.
* Apply general knowledge of standard principles and procedures to accomplish assigned tasks and solve routine problems.
* Have a broad knowledge of your own discipline and some knowledge of several disciplines within the function.
* Lead by example and model behaviours consistent with CBRE RISE values; may help reach agreement.
* Impact the quality of your own work and that of others on the team.
* Work primarily within standardised procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
* Explain complex information to others in straightforward situations.
What You'll Need
* Bachelor's Degree and professional accounting qualification preferred with 3‑5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
* Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
* Ability to analyse possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.
* In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
* Strong organisational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
* Advanced math skills; ability to calculate complicated figures such as percentages, fractions and other financial‑related calculations.
