About the Role
Newington College seeks a qualified and innovative teacher of Business Studies and Economics across Years 7–12. This is a fixed‐term position commencing in Term 3, 2026 and concluding at the end of the 2027 school year. Candidates should be confident in teaching senior Business Studies; the ability to teach Economics will be highly regarded. The role will also include junior classes. All staff at the College are expected to contribute to the pastoral care and co‐curricular programme.
Responsibilities
* Teach senior Business Studies across Years 7–12.
* Teach Economics where required.
* Teach junior Business Studies and Economics classes.
* Support the pastoral care programme.
* Participate in co‐curricular activities.
Qualifications
* Appropriate tertiary qualifications relevant to the position.
* Experience in HSC Business Studies and/or Economics (desirable).
* Willingness to teach across stages 4 and 5.
* Dynamic and effective classroom practice.
* Ability to differentiate instruction and cater for a range of learning abilities.
* Understanding of assessment and feedback processes.
* Team working skills.
* Commitment to professional growth and learning.
* Strong work ethic.
* Proficiency with ICT.
* Commitment to pastoral care.
* Understanding of and adherence to Child Safeguarding policies.
* Contribution to continuous improvement of Child Safeguarding.
Child Safeguarding & Legal Requirements
Successful applicants will be subject to employment screening processes with the Office of the Children's Guardian and will be required to provide a current Working with Children registration number. Teaching staff will also be expected to possess a current First Aid qualification. The College is a 'Child Safe Organisation' committed to ensuring the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all children and young people at the College.
