About The Role
As a CBRE Shift Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the operational integrity of our critical infrastructure. You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a data center operation, ensuring the seamless operation of critical systems. Oversight of electrical and mechanical systems, including but not limited to: Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, generators, chillers, Electrical Distribution, HVAC systems, Building Management Systems (BMS) systems, and CMMS Work Dispatching.
This position is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function, focusing on delivering technical maintenance services in high‐stakes client environments.
What You'll Do
* Conduct daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance tasks.
* Ensure that the site's environmental conditions are conducive to a safe and efficient work environment.
* Respond promptly to Building Management System alarms and perform emergency repairs as necessary.
* Collaborate with third‐party vendors to ensure compliance with company‐developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
* Notify management if subcontractor performance does not meet the requirements outlined in the Master Service Agreement.
* Execute planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
* Monitor the Building Management System for running and alarm conditions, addressing HVAC‐related client issues.
* Perform building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities.
* Address facility and plant faults and defects with effective solutions.
* Complete assigned work following established processes and procedures, adhering to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Conduct routine quality checks to maintain comprehensive maintenance records.
* Complete all required training to ensure the successful completion of job‐related responsibilities.
* Utilise existing procedures to solve straightforward problems, with limited discretion.
* Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
* Deliver results by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
What You'll Need
* Minimum Certificate III in Air‐conditioning & Refrigeration/HVAC‐R, valid ARC license.
* White Card – added advantage.
* Australian citizenship preferred for this position, PR optional.
* Training in a technical discipline, having completed an apprenticeship or equivalent, with 2‐4 years of job‐related experience. A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a diploma.
* Ability to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
* Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role.
* Strong communication skills to effectively present information to internal departments, clients, management, and colleagues.
* Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Strong organisational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
* Basic math skills, with the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
* Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and precision in all aspects of work.
* Commitment to delivering exceptional results in a fast‐paced and dynamic environment.
* Familiarity with general maintenance and repair practices, including hands‐on experience with power tools, electrical work, painting, and other related trades.
