Priest Bros. Orchards Pty Ltd., a fourth-generation family-owned agricultural company in Harcourt North and Pakenham, Victoria, Australia, founded in 1880 and dedicated to the cultivation and production of high-quality apples, is seeking a qualified full-time Forklift Driver. The position offers a salary of $76,515 AUD per year plus superannuation. The Forklift Driver will be responsible for the following tasks:
* Operate the forklift to lift, stack, load, and unload fruit bins in the packing shed.
* Move harvested fruit, empty bins, pallets, and packaging materials between orchards, cool rooms, and packing lines.
* Position the forklift properly to move produce and materials safely in tight spaces like loading docks and storage sheds.
* Ensure that fruit bins and pallets are stored correctly for easy identification, sorting, and dispatch.
* Regularly check forklift performance using visual inspections and monitoring gauges.
* Inspect forklifts daily for wear and tear, mechanical issues, or damage, and report problems to supervisors.
* Perform basic maintenance, minor repairs, and adjustments to forklifts to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
The Forklift Driver is required to have the following qualifications and experience:
* A relevant AQF Cert II or equivalent AND 1.5 years (20+ hours per week) relevant post-qualification experience; OR
* A relevant AQF Cert III or equivalent AND 1 year (20+ hours per week) relevant post-qualifications experience; OR
* 2 years (38+ hours per week) of relevant experience may substitute formal qualification.
Ideal background and skills:
* Experience operating forklifts, tractors, and farm equipment.
* Good mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
* Previous horticulture experience is preferred.
* Valid Forklift license.
* Ability to work independently.
* Flexible with hours.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
