About the Role
We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative product development team. You'll play a key role in taking new consumer products from concept through to production, combining creativity, technical excellence, and practical design-for-manufacture principles.
This is an exciting opportunity to design innovative products, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, and manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop mechanical designs for new consumer products from initial concept through to production release.
* Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
* Apply design for manufacture (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to ensure cost-effective and robust designs.
* Collaborate closely with industrial designers, electronics engineers, and manufacturing partners.
* Conduct tolerance analysis, material selection, and mechanical testing as required.
* Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities.
* Maintain accurate design documentation and participate in design reviews.
* Identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related discipline.
* Proven experience in mechanical design for consumer products or similar industries.
* Proven experience in Project Management.
* Proficiency in SolidWorks.
* Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles for injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and assembly processes.
* Experience with materials selection, tolerancing, and mechanical testing.
* Strong problem‐solving skills and a passion for creative, functional design.
* Experience with Rapid Prototyping.
* Excellent communication and teamwork.
* Experience with simulation tools.
* Experience in Creo 3D software.
* Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers in product development.
