Are you a talented and pragmatic Legal Counsel looking to apply your skills within a leading Australian construction services company? About the Role

As one of our in-house Legal Counsel, you will be at the heart of our major projects, shaping contracts, mitigating risks, and driving compliance. You will work closely with the Risk and Compliance team and various stakeholders, providing pragmatic legal advice on current and upcoming construction projects, disputes, employment matters, environmental matters, and systems and processes. This full-time role offers an attractive and competitive salary package and excellent opportunities to develop your legal skills.

What You Will Do

- Draft and Negotiate : Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements with customers, subcontractors, and third parties.
- Provide Commercial Advice : Offer ongoing legal advice to relevant stakeholders throughout a project's lifecycle.
- Manage Disputes : Assist teams with pre-litigation disputes and support with litigation in various courts and tribunals.
- Drive Strategic Growth : Provide strategic advice to support the development of the business.

What You Will Bring

- Experience : 2-5 years of post-admission experience in private practice and/or an in-house counsel role.
- Legal Certification : A current practising certificate.
- Communication Skills : The ability to communicate complex legal advice in simple, easy-to-understand language.
- Interpersonal Skills : The ability to develop strong working relationships with various stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail : Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Positive Attitude : An excellent work ethic and a can-do attitude.

What will set you apart

- Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating agreements, particularly within the construction sector.
- The ability to deal with complex legal matters.
- Sound knowledge and experience in one or more of construction law, commercial law, employment & WHS law, or litigation is preferred, but lawyers with any background are encouraged to apply if you have a desire and willingness to learn.
