Geoscientific Database Specialist Role Overview
This is a pivotal position in our organization, responsible for capturing, processing, and managing subsurface and surface data for exploration and operational sites.
Key Responsibilities:
* Designing automation to optimize data collection, validation, and management.
* Maintaining the acQuire GIM Suite solution, ensuring its efficient operation and seamless integration with other systems.
* Identifying opportunities to enhance exploration, resource development, and mine geology information management processes, driving process improvements through strategic planning and execution.
* Overseeing the improvement and ongoing management of geological databases and datasets, guaranteeing their accuracy and relevance.
* Assisting the Geoscientific Systems Manager in contract and contractor management, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.
* Liaising with key stakeholders to ensure high visibility and readily accessible data stored in the acQuire GIM Suite solution, facilitating informed decision-making.
* Ensuring company QAQC standards are achieved and maintained, upholding the highest level of quality and compliance.
* Mentoring database geologists/administrators, geologists, and field technicians in database management processes, promoting knowledge sharing and skill enhancement.
* Developing and maintaining GIS databases and QGIS applications, driving innovation and efficiency in data analysis and visualization.
Requirements:
1. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the mining industry.
2. At least 3 years of experience in database roles within the mining sector.
3. Extensive experience using the acQuire GIM Suite as a Database Manager, with expertise in optimizing its functionality and performance.
4. Proven ability to work autonomously, taking ownership of tasks and projects while effectively collaborating with teams.
5. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C++, with experience in software development methodologies and version control systems.
6. A strong working knowledge of QAQC processes for sampling and analytical results, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
7. Previous experience in project and team management, with a track record of delivering results-driven solutions.
8. Strong competency with SQL Server management and advanced SQL scripting, driving data insights and informing business decisions.
9. A track record of developing applications to facilitate data management, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
10. High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.
11. Previous exposure to GIS solutions such as QGIS, MapInfo, and ArcGIS, with expertise in leveraging their capabilities for spatial analysis and visualization.
12. Experience in supporting and training users, with strong attention to detail, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
13. Willingsness to travel as needed to meet with teams and support system implementation.
