About the Role
The 2IC (Second-in-Charge) supports the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Thirsty Camel bottle shop. This role ensures excellent customer service, strong sales performance, and smooth store operations. When the Store Manager is absent, the 2IC assumes responsibility for supervising staff, maintaining store standards, and ensuring compliance with liquor retail regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Store Operations
* Assist the Store Manager with the daily running of the bottle shop.
* Open and close the store when required.
* Ensure shelves and fridges are well stocked, faced, and presented to company standards.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised store environment.
* Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, receiving, and stock rotation.
Customer Service
* Deliver friendly, knowledgeable, and responsible service to customers.
* Provide recommendations on beer, wine, and spirits.
* Handle customer queries, complaints, and returns professionally.
Team Leadership
* Support the Store Manager in supervising and motivating team members.
* Provide guidance and on-the-job training to staff.
* Delegate tasks and ensure team members complete duties effectively.
* Step into the Store Manager role during their absence.
Compliance & Responsible Service
* Ensure compliance with liquor licensing laws and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements.
* Verify identification and prevent underage or intoxicated sales.
* Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
Sales & Merchandising
* Assist in implementing promotions, displays, and point-of-sale material.
* Monitor sales performance and encourage upselling opportunities.
* Ensure promotional stock is displayed correctly and on time.
Cash Handling
* Process sales accurately using the POS system.
* Balance registers and assist with cash management procedures.
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in retail, preferably in liquor or hospitality.
* Leadership or supervisory experience is highly desirable.
* Strong customer service and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.
