We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Biomedical Scientist who is professional, reliable, innovative and flexible to join our friendly, hardworking team to assist with the running of the Microbiology service at Ipswich Hospital.
Our Microbiology laboratory provides a full microbiological service for the diagnosis of infection including bacteriology, serology, parasitology, TB and molecular sections. We consist of over 50 members of staff and working closely with our other ESNEFT Microbiology laboratory situated in Colchester, we perform a wide repertoire of both traditional and automated testing.

Responsibilities
Lead Biomedical Scientist for a specialist area
Manage and coordinate the day to day activities of the team
Lead on service improvement
Process specialist investigations and be responsible for standard and quality of results
Provide specialist advice to clinicians as to appropriateness of tests and timescales
Provide specialist service e.g. training, advanced troubleshooting, problem solving for specialist area
Work flexibly in reflection of service needs which may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 day per week service
Work in constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals (blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions)
