Their operations feature state‐of‐the‐art packing lines, automated sorting systems and precision packaging machinery that handle high‐value fresh produce for domestic and export markets.

About the Role

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Machinery Manager to lead packing line operations and equipment management. The senior role requires a professional with comprehensive knowledge of automated packing systems, quality control protocols and team leadership.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

* Packing Line Operations & Efficiency Management• Direct and optimise daily packing line operations under the guidance of shed management, implementing proactive strategies to achieve maximum throughput and efficiency.• Set, calibrate and control advanced machinery and automated sorting equipment to meet product specifications and packing requirements.• Monitor and adjust fruit input flows in coordination with forklift operations, maintaining optimal line speeds while minimising bottlenecks and equipment stress.• Implement continuous improvement initiatives, analysing efficiency data and applying corrective actions to enhance productivity.
* Quality Assurance & Compliance Management• Maintain knowledge of domestic and export market protocols, ensuring compliance with packing instructions, labelling systems and traceability requirements.• Liaise with quality control officers to validate that all packed products meet stringent quality standards.
* Equipment Maintenance & Technical Oversight• Perform routine maintenance and coordinate specialised repairs to keep fruit label applicators and packing equipment at optimal performance.• Monitor equipment performance, identify maintenance requirements and report issues promptly.• Develop preventive maintenance schedules, minimising unplanned downtime.
* Team Leadership & Operational Coordination• Supervise and train pack house staff, ensuring adherence to operating procedures.• Coordinate with chemical supervisors for line sanitation and safety protocols.• Develop and implement staff training programmes and cross‐training initiatives.
* Safety & Process Compliance• Enforce occupational health & safety policies, conduct safety briefings and inspections.• Maintain audit‐ready conditions and implement corrective measures for operational safety.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

* AQF Diploma in Engineering, Operations Management or equivalent.
* Proven post‐qualification experience in packing line management or machinery supervision within FMCG, fresh produce or food processing environments.
* Experience with automated packing systems, quality control protocols and export compliance requirements.

About the Role

Seeking an experienced and technically skilled Machinery Supervisor to lead equipment operations and maintenance. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of agricultural and processing machinery, strong leadership and an ability to maintain optimal performance and reliability of the machinery fleet.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

* Machinery Maintenance & Performance Management• Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programmes for all machinery and equipment, including agricultural implements, processing machines and transport vehicles.• Perform hands‐on maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.• Conduct regular performance assessments and condition monitoring, identifying potential issues before impacting operational efficiency.• Maintain detailed maintenance records and service histories.
* Team Leadership & Operational Supervision• Supervise and coordinate machine operators and maintenance staff, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.• Prepare and manage work schedules to meet production targets.• Train equipment operators on safety protocols and basic maintenance procedures.
* Operational Efficiency & Quality Control• Oversee daily machinery operations across multiple sites, ensuring correct and safe operation.
* Strategic Planning & Process Improvement• Develop equipment replacement and upgrade strategies, assisting with capital investment decisions.• Establish and monitor KPIs for machinery operations, driving continuous improvement.• Coordinate with external suppliers for repairs, parts procurement and technical support.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

* AQF Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or equivalent.
* Post‐qualification experience in machinery supervision or maintenance management within FMCG, agricultural or industrial settings.
* Managing equipment fleets and leading maintenance teams in a production environment.

Essential Skills & Attributes

* Technical knowledge of agricultural machinery, processing equipment and mechanical systems.
* Strong leadership with proven ability to supervise and motivate technical teams.
* Analytical skills for interpreting production data and performance metrics.
