We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Scientist to join our team in Radiation Safety & Imaging Physics. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing scientific and technical expertise to ensure the safe use of ionising and non-ionising radiation in a healthcare setting.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Liaise with other scientific and technical staff to ensure high quality services are provided to all stakeholders.
">
2. Advise on regulatory compliance in relation to radiation safety, including training requirements for staff.
">
3. Provide scientific and technical expertise to consultant medical staff and other healthcare professionals in relation to radiation safety and the physics of ionising and non-ionising radiation.
">
4. Fulfill the role of Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in diagnostic radiology as described in the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017, or fulfill the role of Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) as described in the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017.

5. Main Duties:
">
6. Support the provision of radiation protection and diagnostic radiology physics services to Radiology, Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, PET-CT, and Radiopharmacy in one of the largest NHS organisations in England.
">
7. Work across both hospitals with occasional visits to community sites.
">
8. Participate in all aspects of the scientific support provided to the Trust and our external customers in ionising and non-ionising radiation areas.
">
9. Take the lead in some areas of service delivery, working to enhance and develop existing procedures and provide expert scientific advice to a range of stakeholders.
">
10. Collaborate with other RPAs, MPEs, and healthcare professionals to provide a high-quality radiation protection service.
">
11. Develop and implement audits to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
">
12. Train a wide range of professional staff groups in radiation safety and imaging physics.
">
13. Identify relevant areas for research and development focus.
">
">
14. Required Skills and Qualifications:
">
15. Degree in a Physical Science or equivalent qualification.
">
16. MSc in Medical or Radiation Physics or equivalent qualification or experience.
">
17. Membership of relevant professional body.
">
18. State registered Clinical Scientist with HCPC registration.
">
19. Certificate of Core Competence to act as MPE under IR(ME)R17 within the field of diagnostic radiology, or Certificate of Core Competence to act as RPA under IRR17.
">
20. PhD (desirable).
">
21. Certificate of Core Competence to act as Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA) or Laser Protection Advisor (LPA) (desirable).
