**About the Role - Job Description**:
Reporting to the Vice President Corporate Affairs for Minerals Australia, the Head of Corporate Affairs SA will drive the delivery management of the global strategy, framework and implementation required to protect and enhance BHP's reputation, to manage risk, and to continuously contribute to social value creation. The incumbent of the role is responsible for integrating and delivering the Community, Social Investment, Government and Corporate Affairs plans and activities across asset and functional boundaries. This includes acting as a key strategic advisor on reputational issues to the Olympic Dam Asset President, and as a key member of the Olympic Dam Asset Leadership Team and the Australian Corporate Affairs Leadership Team.

The role is also accountable to drive the enhancement of culture and capability across the Olympic Dam Corporate Affairs team, including establishing and monitoring staff performance and development goals, assigning accountabilities, setting objectives, establishing priorities, conducting routine performance reviews, and delivering feedback and coaching.

This is a global search; with the role to be based in Adelaide, Australia.

**About You - Skills and Qualifications**:
The Head of Corporate Affairs, South Australia will be an established and proven Corporate Affairs professional bringing demonstrated experience at a leadership level within a similar, complex national or multinational environment. They will understand the importance of reputation and External Affairs and be both operationally and organizationally focused in order to deliver on the business' overarching strategy. You will likely have worked at a senior level in a complex business, preferably in resources and / or energy. You will also have a strong understanding of how public policy and government work.

A natural leader, you will have the ability to 'join the dots' between the BHP brand, the community and public policy and a genuine commitment to BHP's Charter Values of Sustainability, Integrity, Respect, Performance, Simplicity and Accountability. The ability to drive strategy, convert to measurable actions and results will be key.

**Requirements**:

- Tertiary qualification (Bachelor's degree) in a relevant discipline
- Significant experience leading communications, and public, government & community relations in a highly-regulated, high-impact organization
- Experience working in the resources or energy sector may be an advantage, but not required
- Exceptional communications skills including capability to effectively engage with and advise colleagues at all levels of the Company
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in large, diverse businesses, preferably with a global or national geographic footprint
- Ability to align regional or business unit specific strategies and tactics as part of a global, company-wide Corporate Affairs strategy
- Well-developed issues management skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to analyse risk and actively report on implications on operations with recommendations for mitigation
- High levels of integrity and discretion in dealing with sensitive matters
- Proven ability to effectively engage with high-level Government officials, staff, indigenous peoples and community members
- Demonstrate commitment to the BHP Charter and Code of Business Conduct

**Accountabilities**:
Your accountabilities will include, and not be limited to:
Leadership
- Oversee the direction and day to day management of the Corporate Affairs team including planning, budgeting and people development;
- Act as a key strategic advisor on Corporate Affairs to the Asset Leadership Team and General Managers of the Asset and Functional Lead teams
- Member of the Australian Corporate Affairs leadership team accountable for working collectively and collaboratively with peers on the enhancement of strategy, practice and capability across the Corporate Affairs team;
