This is a senior portfolio leadership role at the heart of Infrastructure & Operations, responsible for shaping how technology demand is prioritised, funded, planned and delivered across a complex, operationally critical environment. The role provides strategic oversight of the Infrastructure & Operations portfolio, ensuring initiatives across networks, compute, cloud, data centres, service desk and operational technology are aligned to business priorities and delivered with discipline and transparency.
As Principal Infrastructure Demand & Portfolio, you will establish and lead the demand management function, balancing operational needs, resource capacity, risk and value across a diverse stakeholder landscape. Working closely with senior leaders across Metals, Energy, Digital, Cyber, Data and AI, this role influences investment decisions, improves portfolio maturity, and enables Infrastructure & Operations teams to operate with greater predictability, efficiency and impact.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain the Infrastructure & Operations portfolio roadmap, aligning initiatives to strategic and operational priorities.
* Lead demand management processes, including intake, evaluation, prioritisation and workforce capacity planning.
* Facilitate quarterly planning cycles, defining clear priorities, sequencing initiatives and managing cross-functional dependencies.
* Evaluate portfolio demand against risk, cost, value, operational impact and resource constraints.
* Partner with senior leaders and Finance to manage portfolio budgets, forecasts and value tracking.
* Implement dashboards and reporting to provide clear visibility of portfolio performance, capacity, risk and demand.
* Drive uplift in portfolio and demand management maturity, improving throughput, predictability and stakeholder confidence.
* Provide guidance to leaders on business case development, governance frameworks and operational readiness.
Qualifications and Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent industry experience.
* 10+ years' experience in technology portfolio management, infrastructure leadership, operations or major program delivery.
* Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure portfolios across networks, compute, storage, cloud, service desk and OT/IT environments.
* Strong understanding of critical infrastructure and site-based technology environments in mining, heavy industry or energy sectors.
* Demonstrated capability in strategic planning, governance, investment evaluation and senior stakeholder alignment.
* Experience operating within agile portfolio models, quarterly planning cycles and cross-functional prioritisation frameworks.
* Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting and risk management.
* Working knowledge of ITSM practices and platforms such as ServiceNow, including engagement with service providers and offshore delivery models.
