Responsibilities
The role of a Specialist in Emergency Medicine is to lead high quality, specialised and safe clinical care to patients in the Emergency Department within the hospital setting. The Specialist also leads training to and supervision of clinicians in the multidisciplinary setting to achieve quality education outcomes and safe clinical practice. Qualifications and Selection Criteria
- Evidence of registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Specialist, Emergency Medicine or Specialist, General Practice (FRACGP or FACRRM) with additional advanced qualifications in Emergency Medicine. Relevant senior experience and recency of practice within Emergency Medicine in Australia or equivalent setting.
- Demonstrated recency of practice and knowledge, experience, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Emergency Medicine appropriate to the requirements of the position.
- Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for a Senior Medical Practitioner, including modelling a high standard of professional behaviours to the multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, build collaborative partnerships and provide leadership of a team.
- Demonstrated experience, understanding and commitment to patient safety and other aspects of clinical governance.
- Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of medical, nursing and allied health professionals and to continuing self-education, research and quality improvement and demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD Values, goals and strategies.
- Commitment to participate in an equitable medical roster, including evenings, weekend shifts and the on-call roster, and ability to respond on site within a reasonable time frame.

This is a Category ‘A’ position. All new employees must comply with NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. OASV requirements include vaccination against influenza and are compulsory for NSW staff entering Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) or working in NSW Health RACFs.
