The Principal Research Fellow is a senior academic leader recognised nationally or internationally for excellence in their discipline. The role leads original, innovative and impactful research that strengthens the University’s standing as a national and global leader.
Working strategically and autonomously, the Principal Research Fellow drives high-impact research programs, fosters a culture of excellence, mentors emerging academics and research students, and builds strong external partnerships that deliver translational outcomes across research, policy and practice.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* maintain a national or international reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative research contributions
* maintain a strong research profile, including publication in peer-reviewed international journals and outputs recognised under excellence in research australia (era)
* lead major research initiatives, including internationally funded and partner-engaged research projects
* lead and manage successful competitive research grants and pursue diversified funding opportunities
* maintain quality, standards and excellence across all research activities and outputs
* provide mentoring, supervision and research development opportunities to lower-level academics and research students
* make an outstanding contribution to research, governance and administrative activities of the school or faculty, including participation in university committees
* undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.
About you
* a doctorate or phd in a relevant field
* postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline
* extensive experience conducting original research and engaging in scholarly activity
* a recognised national or international reputation supported by a strong research profile
* extensive experience supervising and mentoring academic staff and research students
* a wide and established network of academic, industry and professional partnerships
* demonstrated strategic thinking, leadership capability and sound judgement in complex environments
* excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills.
