Employment Law Advisor
This is a pivotal role in our member engagement team where you will provide quality legal advisory and advocacy services across all aspects of employment law.
* You will advise members on a wide range of employment relations matters such as disciplinary issues, performance management, termination, EEO, discrimination, WHS, award interpretation, health & safety, diversity, industrial disputes, entitlements, injury management, workcover, recruitment, retention, and conflict resolution;
* Mentor and coach members on employee relations conversations;
* Provide consulting services to members which may involve regional and interstate travel;
* Research and draft submissions to Parliament and regulators on federal and state issues;
* Contribute to industrial relations projects and initiatives;
* Participate in conciliation and mediation conferences;
* Manage litigated matters before bodies like the Fair Work Commission;
* Write articles on relevant topics;
* Attend industry events.
Requirements
* 6+ years post-admission experience in employment law gained at a law firm, industry association, or in-house role;
* Experience in employment, industrial relations, or employee relations law;
* An interest in legislative matters;
* An unrestricted current practicing certificate;
* Excellent negotiation, influencing, and drafting skills;
* Strong communication and presentation skills;
* The ability to embrace change and facilitate new ways of working;
* Experience in other legal areas such as commercial contracts, planning, or competition law is advantageous but not essential.
