Primary objective
This position provides high level technical and administrative support to students, teaching and support staff and is responsible for
ensuring the effective delivery of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) to Northern Territory School of Distance
Education (NTSDE).
Context statement
The Northern Territory School of Distance Education (NTSDE) supports and delivers a range of educational services to students,
resident in the Northern Territory or temporarily living interstate or overseas. NTSDE collaborates with home schools, supporting
educators to deliver high quality, innovative and flexible senior secondary online programs. School staff must be prepared to travel,
use advanced online technologies, and work in both online and face-to-face modes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide day-to-day ICT support to staff and students, manage support tickets, and assist in resolving hardware, software, and
basic network issues in a timely manner.
2. Support the monitoring and maintenance of the school’s ICT systems and equipment and assist with reviewing new technologies
that may benefit the school.
3. Assist in delivering staff training and guidance on the effective use of hardware, software, and online learning tools.
4. Handle confidential information appropriately and complete general administrative tasks as directed by the ICT Manager.
5. Maintain accurate records of ICT assets, support activities, and procedures, and follow established school and departmental
ICT guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience providing ICT support in a school or similar environment, including assisting with troubleshooting
hardware, operating systems, and common software issues.
2. Proven ability to ccommunicate and work with the Department of Education and Training, external service providers, and
partner schools to support ICT services.
3. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff and stakeholders and deliver ICT
professional development sessions to staff.
4. Willingness and ability to travel regularly to remote schools, including flying in small aircraft, to provide ICT support and capture
photos and videos of students for educational or promotional purposes.
5. Skilled in working independently, prioritising tasks, and demonstrating strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable
1. Certificate III in Information Technology or similar.
2. Experience in NT Schools IT environment, familiar with systems, polies, and infrastructure.
3. Demonstrated skills in video production and providing multimedia support.
