About the Role
Western Australia Nickel's West Musgrave operation is located on Ngaanyatjarra lands, approximately 135 km west of the WA/SA/NT border. Employees access site via a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) arrangement from Perth.
We are seeking an Electrical Supervisor to lead Site Services at West Musgrave. This is a critical leadership position responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of key infrastructure supporting the aerodrome, village, mining, and processing facilities during care and maintenance.
Reporting to the Manager West Musgrave, this role operates on an 8/6 FIFO dayshift roster.
The successful candidate will provide strong frontline supervision and safety leadership to electrical personnel, while coordinating planned maintenance, breakdown response, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
BHP announced that its Nickel West operations and the West Musgrave project will be temporarily suspended from October 2024, with a review of this decision planned by February 2027. During this period, BHP will continue to invest approximately AU$450 million (US$300 million) per annum to maintain the Western Australia Nickel facilities and preserve the option for a potential restart.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain a high-level working knowledge of BHP procedures and safety processes.
* Ensure all work complies with statutory requirements, site standards and electrical safety management systems.
* Manage contractors and ensure compliance with site safety and quality standards.
* Planning and scheduling maintenance activities and preservation activities.
* Ensuring statutory compliance of all electrical assets, fire systems and environment.
* Attending breakdown maintenance of village services.
* Supervision of staff and contractors in the following areas: Village, aerodrome, semi-constructed mineral processing plant.
* Provide support to land and dispatch aircraft at our own aerodrome.
* Supporting our emergency response team by being a key member.
About You
You will have experience with the operation and maintenance of electrical assets. A key strength is your ability to communicate effectively, ensuring the development of team members through relationship management skills. You will be a proactive, credible, and influential member of the leadership team whilst building trusted, collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.
Experience, skills and qualifications required include:
* WA "A grade" Electrical Licence (essential)
* Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor qualification (required prior to starting)
* Experienced Supervisor with the ability to step up as Alternate Site Senior Executive
* 1SAP/FIORI, planning and work management experience
* Strong safety leadership and safety event management experience
* Positive and motivated people leader with a focus on culture
