About the role
Are you an experienced Operations Manager looking to take the next step in your career? Lincoln Electric Australia is seeking an experienced SWP Operations Manager to lead workshop and field-based repair, reclamation, and refurbishment operations across multiple locations. The role is responsible for delivering safety, quality, delivery, and profitability outcomes while driving lean processes, reducing rework, and improving cycle times. You will lead operational teams, optimize processes, and support profitable growth for the Specialized Welding Products (SWP) division.
What you'll be doing
Operations & Production
* Lead workshop repair, reclamation, and refurbishment activities to meet sales, quality, and delivery targets
* Implement lean practices and continuous improvement to reduce rework and cycle time
* Manage capacity, scheduling, resources, and cost control in line with forecasts
Field & On-Site Services
* Plan and manage on-site repair teams for shutdowns and emergency works
* Ensure safe mobilization, documentation, tooling, and customer communication
Financial & Strategic
* Manage operational budgets, forecasts, and cost control
* Analyze performance data to improve profitability
* Identify growth, innovation, and value-added service opportunities (including CAPEX)
* Contribute to medium- and long-term business planning
Customer & Service
* Act as the primary operational contact for key customers
* Ensure clear scope, timing, and service delivery
* Capture customer feedback and drive service improvements
Supply Chain & Logistics
* Oversee procurement, inventory, dispatch, and transport of materials and components
* Ensure accurate job costing and stock control
Quality, Safety & Compliance
* Maintain ISO9001 quality systems and industry compliance
* Ensure weld procedures, inspections, and technical governance
* Champion health, safety, and environmental performance
Leadership
* Lead and develop high-performing workshop and field teams
* Coach, mentor, and build capability across operations
What we're looking for
1. 5–8+ years' operations or site leadership experience in heavy repair, fabrication, or field services
2. Strong knowledge of welding, wear repair, and refurbishment processes
3. Welding procedure and inspection knowledge (Cert 10 required)
4. Experience with ERP systems, job costing, and operational KPIs
5. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
6. Trade qualification (Boilermaker/Fitter/Welder) or tertiary qualification in engineering/operations
7. Solid understanding of WHS legislation and risk management
