Position Overview – Structural Painter
This role is responsible for preparing and painting steel structures within the mining and heavy industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Painting and surface preparation: Prepare, repair, and coat structural surfaces by assembling scaffolding, mixing paints, applying protective finishes with various tools, and inspecting coating quality using industry-standard equipment.
Equipment and materials management: Clean and maintain painting tools and work areas, estimate and procure materials, and monitor inventory to ensure timely restocking.
Quality assurance: Review and interpret painting specifications, apply industry best practices to ensure quality workmanship, and submit accurate QA data and inspection reports.
Safety and compliance: Adhere to and promote site safety protocols and company policies by maintaining clean work areas, participating in daily safety meetings, reporting hazards, completing pre-start checks, and contributing to a safety-focused, compliant workplace culture.
Teamwork and support: Collaborate with Supervisors and peers to ensure smooth project execution and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Relevant trade qualifications – desirable but not essential
Proven experience as a Structural Painter, preferably within mining and heavy industry
Current driver’s licence
Current Construction Industry White or Blue Card
Ability to obtain or currently hold a Forklift Licence and EWP (Elevated Work Platform) Licence
Current Confined Space and Working at Heights training (or willingness to undertake)
Robust professionalism in all dealings
Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 annually
