Job Description

Minor Hotels is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Brisbane Head Office team on a Part Time 30 hours per week fixed-term contract. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely and compliant end-to-end payroll processing across a portfolio of properties, while providing high-level customer service and support to employees and leaders.

Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy, legislative compliance and continuous process improvement within a high-volume, multi-site environment.

Responsibilities Include:

* End-to-end processing of fortnightly payroll across a portfolio of properties
* Managing Workers Compensation payments, Paid Parental Leave (Services Australia), and Child Support obligations (where applicable)
* Maintaining payroll and leave systems, ensuring accurate employee records
* Interpreting awards, enterprise agreements and contracts, including overtime and shift allowances
* Processing new starters, variations, increases, back pays and termination payments
* Calculating and reconciling annual leave and long service leave accruals
* Assisting with month-end reporting, payroll tax, reconciliations and General Ledger balancing
* Preparing internal and statutory payroll reporting
* Responding to payroll-related queries from employees and managers
* Supporting payroll compliance, audits and ad hoc projects as required

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

* Minimum 3 years' experience in high-volume payroll processing (essential)
* Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and compliance requirements
* Experience with Workers Compensation (preferred but not essential)
* Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and urgency
* High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
* Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
