About the role
Reporting to the Head of Department Emerging Industries and Trades, the Operations Manager Emerging Industries and Trades is directly responsible for leading and managing Program Managers across Building Trades, High Risk, Engineering, Automotive, Electrotechnology and Bio Manufacturing, as well as the Plumbing teaching team.
The role provides leadership and operational oversight of educational programs to ensure high-quality delivery, strong student outcomes, and alignment with industry and funding requirements. This includes responsibility for curriculum development, business performance, and achieving government-funded and commercial income targets.
You will drive continuous improvement through monitoring student attendance, retention and achievement data, implementing targeted strategies to improve performance. The role also plays a key part in strengthening industry engagement, developing customised training solutions, and ensuring programs remain relevant and responsive to workforce needs. This is an opportunity to lead across a broad and dynamic portfolio, influence program direction, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality vocational education across the region.
A six-month probationary period applies to this role
About you
As the Operations Manager Emerging Industries and Trades, you are an experienced and capable leader with a strong background in vocational education and training. You bring a strategic mindset, sound judgement, and the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams across multiple disciplines. You have demonstrated experience managing educational operations, driving performance outcomes, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. You are confident working with data to inform decision-making and have a strong understanding of curriculum development, compliance, and industry engagement. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry, community and government bodies. You are proactive, solutions-focused, and able to influence and lead change in a complex environment. You collaborate easily and build and manage effective stakeholder relationships at all levels.
Qualifications and experience
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent)
* An adult education qualification at AQF5 level or above
* Relevant degree and relevant post graduate qualification and experience
* Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience
* Previous leadership and management experience in an educational environment
* Experience with preparing and monitoring budgets
* Experience with, and specialist skills and knowledge in implementing systems and processes that lead to continuous improvement
