Gumbuya World is entering an exciting growth phase and is seeking an experienced Groups & Functions Manager to drive revenue, grow new markets, and deliver outstanding event experiences.
Working closely with the Management Team, this hands‑on role is responsible for converting enquiries into confirmed bookings, managing end‑to‑end event delivery, and building strong, long‑term client relationships. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast‑paced events environment and is motivated by results, creativity, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Group & Function Management
* Manage inbound enquiries and confirmed bookings including contracts, deposits, schedules, and run sheets,
* Conduct client site visits and pre‑event walkthroughs
* Oversee function setup, delivery, and pack‑down
* Be onsite for key events to ensure quality control and guest satisfaction
* Coordinate layouts, AV, catering, and infrastructure
* Ensure compliance with safety, licensing, and park policies.
* Identify upsell opportunities including catering, park access, wildlife encounters, and value‑add experiences.
* Development group products and packages.
Collaboration & Communication
* Liaise with Operations, Wildlife, Food & Beverage, Guest Services, and Marketing
* Coordinate staffing and resources with Operations
* Support Marketing campaigns and seasonal activations
About You
You are commercially minded, highly organised, and passionate about delivering standout functions. You’re confident managing multiple bookings at once and building strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
You’ll bring:
* Proven experience in functions, hospitality, tourism, theme park, or venue management
* Strong sales capability with a revenue‑focused mindset
* Exceptional communication, presentation, and client relationship skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Confidence working cross‑departmentally
* Experience with CRM systems and function planning tools (preferred)
* A proactive, self‑motivated approach with a strong sense of ownership
Experience & Requirements
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in events and/or sales in a similar role
* B2B sales experience (preferred)
* Flexibility to work outside standard hours during events and peak periods
* Current Working with Children Check (Employee)
