The Opportunity
We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team on a casual basis during school terms. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting young children and adolescents, with expertise in paediatric care and a strong focus on health and wellbeing.
A particular highlight of this position is the opportunity to accompany students on school camps, offering vital health support in outdoor and remote environments. A keen interest in participating in school excursions and camps is required.
The successful candidate will also work closely with our Nursing Team in the Health Centre, delivering high-quality healthcare to students from Reception to Year 12 in line with professional nursing standards within a school environment. This role requires a high level of professionalism, a warm and approachable manner, genuine care for all students, and a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
To succeed, you will have experience managing chronic illnesses, sports injuries, diabetes, wound care, and addressing contemporary adolescent health concerns, including mental health.
The Role
* Compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
* First aid, triage, and assessment of students
* Providing general health care to students and the college community as appropriate to their needs and situation
* Administering medication to students, which is supplied by parents/guardians
* Liaising with parents/guardians, teachers, support, and executive staff as necessary about the health needs of students
* Maintaining accurate and up to date records of students with anaphylaxis, asthma, epilepsy, and other chronic conditions
* Liaising with staff about first aid requirements on camps, excursions and at sport activities
* Provide administrative support as required
* Working collaboratively with other staff to promote the College's values
What we need
* An experienced Registered Nurse who is qualified and registered to practice in SA
* Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation certificate and trained in responding to diabetes, anaphylaxis and asthma
* Recent paediatric/adolescent healthcare experience is essential
* Sports first aid and wound care experience
* Experience in Diabetes management across a variety of ages
* Ability to establish rapport and build strong relationships
* Ability to work effectively in a small team
* Excellent time management organisational, and record management skills
* Flexibility and an ability to adapt and operate effectively in a changing environment
* Demonstrated high-level computer skill and literacy, with a comprehensive knowledge of computer packages including Google Suite
* Flexibility for more hours at short notice is advantageous
