Overview
As Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) at West Coast District Hospital, you will provide expert clinical leadership and consultancy across inpatient and emergency services. This role supports safe, high‐quality care and drives continuous improvement in clinical practice. You will work within a safety and quality framework in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and Director of Nursing – West Coast (DON).
Responsibilities
* Deliver advanced clinical expertise and guidance to nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
* Lead initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, safety, and service delivery.
* Support the development and implementation of clinical standards, protocols, and quality improvement strategies.
* Act as a resource and mentor for staff, promoting evidence‐based practice and clinical excellence.
Location
West Coast District Hospital, Queenstown, Tasmania – a mountainous region with a rich mining heritage and a welcoming community.
Requirements
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
* Holds, or is working towards, relevant postgraduate qualifications (desirable).
* Advanced clinical knowledge with demonstrated experience in rural health nursing, coordination of nursing practice, and leadership in rural health emergency and inpatient settings.
* Leadership and influence with a proven ability to lead clinical initiatives, mentor staff, and contribute to strategic planning and service development.
* Quality and safety focus with experience in governance, quality improvement, and risk management.
* Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Benefits and Sponsorship
* Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum + employer 12% superannuation contribution; salary range per the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. Postgraduate Allowance up to 10%; Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of $3,797 per annum; 10% remote allowance.
* Salary Packaging: benefits including up to $9,010 for living expenses + $2,650 for meal entertainment per FBT year (eligible items).
* Visa sponsorship and relocation support available for eligible UK/IE candidates; travel and relocation assistance up to $15,000 for overseas appointees and up to $10,000 for interstate appointees.
